This picture of Grandma & Grandpa Boyer used to hang on the wall in the back room where my mother slept as a child, and where I slept while living with Grandma during college.

I love this picture, and I told Grandma I would miss looking at it after I moved away to Georgia, so of course, she sent it with me. It is a great treasure to me.

According to Grandma's handwriting on the picture, it was taken in 1971 by a friend of my Mother.

There are so many great memories with Grandma! She has a great way of making even the smallest things fun! Sunday's at grandma's house were the best! I remember lining up to get my ice cream cone- if you were a big kid you got 2 scoops, if you were a little kid you got 1... the anticipation of being a "big kid"! Like many other grandkids I remember the front games, her big box of dress up and jewelry, and the countless Bear Lake trips!

I can't believe Grandma still loved me after I BLEW up her car, when I drove her to Bear Lake in 2006! I love you Grandma!

On Sunday we went and visited Grandma. I was amazed at how much of her natural personality comes through. All of the Kids came into her room to say hi and when she woke up she went right into her serving mode, she was excited that we came and wished she had "buckets of ice cream" for the kids to eat. She thanked us for coming and told my little 2 year old Lizzie that when she felt better they would get better acquainted. More then once she offered to us to fix anything we could find in the house to eat. I went to show my love but left feeling she had done more for me.

Hundreds of treasured memories flood my mind . . . She had an amazing sponge cake and the very best laugh. I love her wink after she makes an off the cuff comment. I can’t buy Fig Newton’s, black licorice, or Werther’s hard candies without thinking of her . . . and sometimes buy them just because of her.

Her yard was magical . . . a tire swing, a tree house, hidden paths, raspberries to pick, and endless places to explore. I have yet to find a better climbing tree than the tall pine tree in her backyard. Leonardo da Vinci said, “simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” Wasn’t grandma the epitome of that statement? Homemade bread with some jam became the food of royalty and the birds singing outside were better than any opera. She loved a windy day or a good thunderstorm.

I remember one summer grandma yelling at the boys because they had picked the unripe apricots and peaches to use as weapons against each other; thus ruining the harvest.

She was an excellent cook and housekeeper. When I make one of her recipes, whether it is her fresh peach pie, baked spaghetti, or homemade bread I always think of enjoying them in her kitchen.

Family Christmas parties were always a big hit . . .the much anticipated nativity pageant in grandma and grandpa’s basement, then hearing Santa’s bells before he arrived with a gift for each of us. I loved our Easter BBQ’s and again it was her yard that made for the best Easter egg hunts.

I too was led back into her room once and given a sweet necklace grandpa had given her years before. I wish I could walk through her door and see her reclining in her chair with a book. She filled her hall with pictures of us and her photo albums documented our lives. Grandma loved us and we knew it.

(A) Alexis Howard Johansen: Kim, your memories touch my heart. Grandma did indeed decorated her home with her family. I love your last comment best: "Grandma loved us and we knew it." I think that's the message we've all been expressing.

Grandma passed away very peacefully at 1:35 pm MST. My father said she simply took her last breath and was gone. My mother so wanted to be with her, but we're sure Grandma would want her to be with Allison to welcome a new life into this world.

I'd like to think that on her way to Heaven, Grandma took a detour through the mountains she loves, and then passed through the plane where my mom sat grieving. So really my mom did get to be with her to the end.
